Our passion

Passion… that's what drives us. A passion to create things of beauty, a passion for innovation, a passion for nature, a passion to further improve our processes. And above all, a passion for our products.

Quick-Step floors are designed and produced by UNILIN.

Our history

1960: UNILIN is founded

Several families from South-West Flanders who are active in the flax industry begin producing flax chipboards in Ooigem, Belgium. They call their company 'UNILIN'. The company grows fast but the availability of flax is limited, so in the seventies they decide to use wood as a raw material.

1990: Quick-Step hits the market

UNILIN is the first company to introduce laminate floors on the Belgian market. With Quick-Step, UNILIN is the first laminate manufacturer to go to market with its own brand.

1997: the 'Uniclic' click system is invented

Quick-Step is the first manufacturer to market a glueless, integrated click system. The revolutionary 'Uniclic' system guarantees swift and easy installation of laminate floors in all situations. The Uniclic system is patented worldwide.

2001: first laminate floor with a V-groove is launched

Quick-Step Perspective is the first laminate floor in the world that has a V-groove between the planks when clicked together.

2001: Natural matching structures are introduced

Quick-Step is the first laminate manufacturer to succeed in perfectly matching the structure of the surface (i.e. what you can actually feel) with the natural pattern (i.e. what you see) of its laminate floors.

2005: first permanent antistatic laminate floor is presented

To prevent unpleasant electrostatic charges on contact with conductive objects, Quick-Step starts treating all its laminate floors with a permanent antistatic layer.

2006: matching skirting boards are added to the offering

Quick-Step presents impact and scratch resistant skirting boards that perfectly match the colour and surface structure of the corresponding floor.

2006: revolutionary Incizo profile is launched

Quick-Step introduces Incizo: the first multi-purpose profile that can be used as a finishing profile for four different applications.

2007: Quick-Step introduces laminate floors for bathrooms

Quick-Step creates 'Lagune', a collection of laminate floors perfectly suited for damp areas, such as bathrooms.

2009: Quick-Step 'Parquet' joins the family

Quick-Step broadens its offering with the introduction of 'Parquet'. The surface of this Parquet floor consists of a top layer of solid wood.

2009: 'Uniclic Multifit' click system is introduced

The Uniclic Multifit system builds on the original 'Uniclic' system introduced in 1997, and introduces a third fitting method: slide and click.

2013: Quick-Step expands its offering with 'Livyn'

Quick-Step introduces 'Livyn', a comfortable quality floor with the natural look and feel of wood and the practical benefits of a synthetic floor.
